Haboro Townspeople Ski Resort - Hokkaido

Haboro Townspeople Ski Resort (羽幌町民スキー場びゅー) is a destination to visit if you're seeking a decent area to ski in northern Hokkaido. It's located at 405番地1 Central in Haboro Town in Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan.

Managed by the local government, the Haboro Townspeople Ski Resort is one of the many ski resorts in Rumoi Subprefecture. This ski resort offers an advanced ski course (Course A) and a basic ski course (Course B).

Course A has a total length of 880 meters with steep slopes while Course B measures 860 meters and has a gradual slope. To reach the top of the ski hill, Haboro Townspeople Ski Resort installed a pair lift that ferries skiers to the top in just about 10 minutes.

Haboro Townspeople Ski Resort usually opens to the public during the last weeks of December and is in operation until early March depending on the snow conditions.

Haboro Townspeople Ski Resort is very memorable to me as it is the first place that I experienced skiing. It has also witnessed me stumble and fall countless times during that ski trip.

I visited and skied at Haboro Townspeople Ski Resort last February 4, 2022, which was my 95th day here in Japan as an ALT under the JET Programme. I was honored to be given the opportunity to join Tomamae Commercial High School for its annual ski trip. Well, speaking of which, I would like to thank my JTE Hasegawa-sensei for inviting me to be part of the said trip and for also patiently teaching me the basics of skiing.

What I liked about the Haboro Townspeople Ski Resort, aside from the pair lift rides was the view from the upper parts of the hill. You would be able to see a scenic view of the vast snow-covered landscape below and the Sea of Japan in the distance.

Before I forget, aside from skiing, you should also try the food at the ski lodge. it's very affordable and delicious.

Adults (HS Students and older) 

One-time ticket - 180 yen
Ticket (11 times) - 1800 yen
4-hour ticket - 1700 yen
1-day pass - 2500 yen

Children (JHS students and younger)

One-time ticket - 100 yen

4-hour ticket - 900 yen
1-day pass - 1300 yen

Why visit Haboro Townspeople Ski Resort?

If you are fond of skiing and you found yourself in Rumoi Subprefecture from the months of December until March then you better visit this place. It's not as crowded as most popular ski resorts in the region plus it is very affordable. However, if you have zero experience skiing, I don't particularly recommend this place unless you are with a very knowledgeable skier.

    Interesting. When I head skiing in Hokkaido, I alway think of Niseko. I`m surprised that there are more skiing places to try out.

      There are a lot of ski resorts in Hokkaido worth checking out. Please visit Haboro Townspeople Ski Resort when you are in the Rumoi Subprefecture in winter.

    How come when I look at the picture from the foot of the ski resort it looks easy to do but when I saw the picture from the peak it seems like it's too high.

Our adventure today takes us to a mountain south of Metro Manila. Mt. Gulugod Baboy  (other variations Mt. Gulugod-Baboy ) is located in Anilao, Mabini in the province of Batangas. Day 5 May 21, 2018 Kyoto Adventure (Day 2) We woke up to yet another beautiful day here in Japan .
