Nakaokogen Hotel Kazaguruma - Gifu

Located in 37 Nakao, Onsengu, Okuhida, Takayama City in Gifu Prefecture, Nakaokogen Hotel Kazaguruma is a 4-star hotel situated in one of Japan's onsen towns.

Nakaokogen Hotel Kazaguruma Details

Nakaokogen Hotel Kazaguruma can easily be remembered for its unique rocky mountain-like facade but those who have stayed there would probably remember it for its spacious rooms, great food, and the stunning scenery that surrounds it.

Speaking of spacious rooms, the hotel has a total of 14 rooms. Each room measures 70 square meters. Hotel room rates cost around $100 to $200 depending on the season and promos (which they usually have). These rooms are equipped with an air conditioning unit, refrigerator, safety deposit box, TV, and WiFi connection. What I love about the rooms in Nakaokogen Hotel Kazaguruma is the ofuro tub which is a Japanese concept bathtub. The continuous flow of hot water makes it a perfect substitute for the famous onsen.

This common area is perfect if you want a great view of nature while just relaxing.

Yep! There's a vending machine here

A stay in Nakaokogen Hotel Kazaguruma wouldn't be complete if we wouldn't talk about food. Included in your booking is a buffet breakfast which is composed mostly of western dishes. Although dinner is not included in room packages, guests can request one at a fee.

Buffet dinner! Yum!

Now here's the reason why I enjoyed my stay at Nakaokogen Hotel Kazaguruma... as a nature lover, the picturesque mountains that tower around the sleepy town gave me that feeling of remoteness and isolation. It was a positive thing for me as being a city dweller makes me prone to physical and mental torture from the hustle and bustle of city life.

My family and I got to stay at Nakaokogen Hotel Kazaguruma during the 16th and 17th days of our 2018 Japan trip. What made the stay memorable were the little special moments that happened there like the time when Mr. Toshi impressed us with his guitar skills and the early morning stroll around town that I had with Mr. Toshi and his wife Ms. Taeko.

This place is one of the best hotels in the area. It's also near Mt. Hotakedake.

Overall, if you love nature, I highly recommend Nakaokogen Hotel Kazaguruma. Aside from that, the hotel is also situated near Shinhotaka Station which would bring you up to Mt. Hotakedake where you'd get the perfect view of the picturesque Japanese Alps.

Nakaokogen Hotel Kazaguruma Room Rates:

Why stay in Nakaokogen Hotel Kazaguruma?

Nakaokogen Hotel Kazaguruma is a perfect place to stay if you want to explore the deeper parts of Takayama City. The hotel is located in an onsen town so expect plenty of hot springs in the vicinity. What I also like about this hotel is its affordability. Not to forget the numerous buffet food choices.

Getting to Nakaokogen Hotel Kazaguruma:

From Tokyo, ride the JR Hokuriku Shinkansen to Toyama and transfer to the JR Hida limited express train to Takayama. The whole trip takes about 4 1/2 hours and costs around 14,000 yen.

From Takayama Station, ride the JR Takayama Line going to Inotani Station (1-hour ride). From there walk towards the Inotani Bus Stop near the Jinzu River then ride the bus to Nakaokoharaguchi Bus Stop (1hr 23min).
